snàth handspun yarns and handknits

unique yarns and handknits, made with traditional skills

Snàth handspun yarns available for sale

Snàth handspun yarns and handknits are currently available for sale at the Made in Islay and Jura Craft Markets, held in Bruichladdich Village Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the spring, summer and autumn months.

Snàth handspinning and fibre exploration workshops are available to book. These afternoon workshops will be suitable for nearly everyone, from complete beginners having their first experience of spinning with spindle and wheel, to those who have already learned to make handspun yarn and would like to develop their skills.  Children from age 8 are welcome to take part, as long as they’re with a responsible adult who is also participating in a workshop.  There will be a maximum of 4 people per session, so that everybody will have enough  individual attention.  Spinning equipment will be made available for use, and wools and other fibres will be provided, included in the workshop fee of £30. for a 2.5 hour session.

Please contact me by email at snath DOT handspun AT gmail DOT com to book a place on a handspinning workshop.

It’s easy; Snàth is Scottish Gaelic for thread, and snàth-olan is woollen yarn. Pronounciation is like ‘snaaath’. Was so pleased to hear that you are enjoying knitting with the handspun yarn that was gifted to you!
